Placenta Encapsulation

While placenta encapsulation continues to grow in popularity in the United States, regulation on this service as an industry has yet to be placed, which leaves room for many different ways to allow people to process placentas in today’s western culture.  Be that as it may, I believe it is important to take all the steps I possibly can to ensure the best-quality services for my clients.

I prepare your placenta for encapsulation using the traditional preparation method which includes thoroughly rinsing and steaming of the placenta before dehydration. I believe the safest, most beneficial place to process your placenta is in your own home for a number of reasons. Although my cleaning preparation and handling methods are in accordance with the Universal Precautions for Bloodborne Pathogens, when your services are performed in your own home it leaves no room for question or error whether or not it is, in fact, your own placenta being handled in your own bacterial environment. Along with this, while I am with you I am fully available to you for educational reference about the process, as well as for emotional and educational support that you could expect from a postpartum doula. You may watch me as I work and discuss what is going on with your baby, your body, and what happened during your birth, or you may simply utilize the time to relax with your baby knowing your kitchen will be left cleaner than when it was found.

Consumption of the placenta has been known to replenish and rebalance the physical and hormonal state of the body after the demanding season of pregnancy and the marathon that is childbirth. My clients enjoy many benefits of placenta encapsulation including better energy levels and sleep patterns, calmer emotions, lactation support, easier postpartum healing, and improved moods.

Placenta Tincture

Having a tincture made with a portion of your placenta can ensure you the ability to enjoy some of its benefits for an extended period of time. Tinctures by nature are easy to store because they do not expire, and only a small amount is used at a time. Your tincture can be prepared during your encapsulation process and, depending on the rate at which you consume your capsules, would be ready to use around the time your capsules run out. Every tincture I prepare is made with a certified gluten-free menstruum, though if you have other dietary restrictions I will do my best to accommodate those needs as well.

Along with having support from me during your service, I am also available to you via phone or e-mail contact throughout your early postpartum season. My clients enjoy knowing they can text me at any point for encouragement through whatever arises during their time as a new mom.

I took my first Placenta Prep training and have been certified in Bloodborne Pathogens & Infection Control for Placenta Encapsulators in accordance with the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard since June of 2016. I completed my certification as a Postpartum Placenta Specialist through ProDoula, a Certification Agency for the Modern Doula,in August of 2016; the first one to be certified in Michigan’s lower peninsula.
