Labor Support

In short, your husband or partner knows you, and the doula knows birth. Together, that’s a dream team. -Genevieve Howland

Whether you desire to have a natural, medicated, or planned Caesarian birth, as your doula I will be there for you in whatever setting you choose to support both you and your partner.  I am on your side through the process and my role is to compliment your birth team with experience, patience, gentleness, and professionalism. As part of your birth team, I will help to maintain comfortability, communication, and confidence in the atmosphere to encourage progress and safety.

When you hire me as your doula, you can expect my accountability and experience to be consistent and professional from the moment we begin this journey together. I believe immediate and unlimited phone and email support are key in helping everyone to have the best mindset throughout the end of pregnancy and going into labor and birth, and you can always expect our conversations to be completely confidential. No topic is too intimidating or insignificant to discuss, and I will always direct you to a better resource if I cannot give you the proper recommendation for you.

Support includes:

  • Complimentary Interview – This is where we get to meet each other for the first time to discuss your needs and desires for your level of support.

  • Prenatal Visit – Together we will create a birth wish list, discuss in further depth your decisions and desires, and sketch out a 'plan B.' This visit is designed to build our communication and to further establish your confidence going into labor and birth.

  • 24/7 On-Call Availability – From the moment your contract is signed, I am available for you to communicate any questions or concerns, or hints of early labor, including spontaneous premature labor.

  • Continuous Support for Labor & Birth – Through our conversations in early labor, we will decide together when it is best for me to join you and your partner. I will also stay with you through the first moments after birth for immediate postpartum and breastfeeding support.

  • Postpartum Visit – Within the first weeks of being home, this is an optional visit to ensure everyone is adjusting well and thriving.

I attended my first birth in 2009 and began my certification process with my first labor training in July 2016. I am currently a certified Labor doula through ProDoula, the Certification Agency for the Modern Doula, and in CPR/First Aid through the American Heart Association.
