I am a doula because I believe in the power of education, support, and encouragement through pregnancy and the years following.
I attended my first birth in the spring of 2009 as a teenager at the request of a childhood best friend, which sparked a passion in me to support and encourage women through their pregnancy, birth, and postpartum seasons. Through the years and seasons since then in my own life, that passion has been fueled and has grown through the relationships and experiences I've been blessed to be a part of.
At the labors of each of my children, I was supported by a wonderful midwife and a doula, both whom brought their own uniquenesses to each experience. It was not long after that I decided to pursue doula work as a prerequisite to midwifery studies, which I began in the spring of 2016 and the winter of 2017, respectively. I also attended Northern Michigan University to study pre-nursing from 2018-2020.
I have taken all of my trainings hands-on and in-person through ProDoula, the Certification Agency for the Modern Doula, including Placenta Prep, Labor, and Postpartum & Infant Care trainings. I have been certified as a Postpartum Placenta Specialist since August 2016, and am also currently certified in Labor and Postpartum & Infant Care support.
I enjoy spending time outdoors with my family, which usually includes time spent in the woods or at the water. I thoroughly enjoy mountain biking and cross country skiing, as well as a leisurely hike.
I joined Marquette Mountain Ski Patrol in 2018 and have been serving since then, and remain certified in OEC and CPR.
